Gallery 190 Show at UCSF

UCSF Memory and Aging Center

Gallery 190 is in the lobby of the UCSF Memory and Aging Center. It has a rotating display of artists' works. Dylan, a patient at UCSF, displayed 28 pieces from October to December 2024.

Following her diagnosis of Frontal Temporal Dementia and Primary Progressive Aphasia, Dylan Sullivan embraced her changing brain and began drawing, never having drawn before. After seeing the play, UnRavelled, that tells the true story of how early onset dementiar prompted Anne Adamsto take up art, Dylan created her first black and white drawings in July of 2023.

Dylan's skill increased rapidly, amazing her friends and family as she continued to produce art. UCSF's Memory and Aging Center feature artists in their lobby, and in October of 2024 Dylan was the resident artist there with her 28 piece installation - Courageous, Curios and Creativity.

The degeneration of the frontal lobes can compromise the ability to speak, read and write. Yet there have been a handful of cases, like Sullivan, in which the condition produces a creative blossoming
